The Mil Mi-24 “Hind” is a Soviet attack helicopter with light troop transport capability, produced from the early 1970s under tight secrecy. It entered Soviet Air Force service in 1972, with the Mi-24D variant deployed from 1976. The helicopter can carry up to eight troops while delivering heavy firepower, earning the nickname “flying tank.” It has been used by numerous armed forces globally and remains one of the most widely deployed attack helicopters. Some export versions were designated Mi-25/Mi-35.
